Tuesday

No picture updates as of yet but Puppy turned six weeks old yesterday! Time really flies!

The countdown is at 11, almost 10 days! I really can't believe it.

Finals are coming. I am not excited. At all. But I am excited for them to be over and for me to be home!
That's all I have to say for now! Have a great rest of your week.

No News is Good News

12 days until we leave to go get Puppy! We are still struggling with naming him. We are hovering over Oscar a lot and we love Teddy. It's not an easy thing. As of now, we have a tag with my name and phone number that just says Puppy... We shall see.

Finals are a mere week away and that is not cool. But I'll be done with school so soon and that IS cool.

My theatrical debut is also fast approaching and that is a little stressful.  That will be over soon and I can't wait. Theater isn't my thing.

My anniversary is only 3 days away! 5 years, talk about exciting :P

That's all for now, no new news about Puppy but hopefully in the next few days, I'll get new pictures :)
Thanks for reading!

New Picture Friday

Good morning and Happy Friday!
Only 15 days until I leave to go get Puppy! Also only a week until finals. Less fun.

I got new pictures a day early so I thought I'd show him off a little bit more! :) Puppy is 40 days now!

I asked the Breeder- who's name I know, I just don't feel comfortable posting it- if she could take video of the pups playing. She says if the weather cooperates, she will! So I am excited for that.

Puppy. The beginning to now

This all began when my boyfriend of five years and I started talking about living together. Well, I guess it started a little sooner than that, I've always wanted a puppy. What kid doesn't?

This was the perfect opportunity. I was going to have my own place, someone to help me, and I felt like I was totally ready for the responsibility that comes with getting a puppy.

So now the time comes to decide what kind of puppy! I've always been a big fan of Boston Terriers myself and Nick (the boyfriend) is partial to Siberian Huskies. I agree that huskies are really cute so I did some research. Turns out huskies are not easy dogs and not suggested for first time dog owners. Nick really doesn't like the look of Bostons- dumb I know- so we called it a draw. I started fresh.

I looked up "best dogs for first time dog owners". There were some cute ones! On the first list I found, there was a dog called a papillon. I remembered that my mom's ex-coworker had one and that my mom gushed about. I looked through several lists, the papillon was on every one of them. I did more research on these cute little guys. After reading up on them, I was hooked. There were everything I've ever wanted in a puppy. I talked to Nick, showed him two pictures and he was on board.

Now to find a papillon that could be mine.

I searched high and low for papillon rescues and breeders anywhere near me! I was looking for a young, boy puppy that was red in color. Unfortunately there were no rescues that were at an age that I liked. So instead, I searched the internet for days for breeder. Finally, I found one that was perfect. A women in Minnesota was going to have a litter right around the time I could take a puppy and get my own place. I called, we chatted, she sent me a form, I filled it out. Bob's your uncle. So I thought. I continued to look for someplace closer. I found a sweet lady only four hours away in Billings. I called her and she said she'd call when her liter was born. There was a problem with both of these people. The price was way too high. I was all for it until my mom gave me a talk that set me straight. It was outrageously high. I also changed my mind about color around this time. I wanted a black and white one. So again, I started from square one.

My search led to a sweet retired women in Eureka, Kansas. Her papillon, Zoie had just had a litter of three, black and white puppies. All boys. Only 10 days old. Her price was reasonable, she was sweet, and she even said she'd refund my deposit if I decided that none of the pups fit what I was looking for. One problem: They would be ready in May. I'd be living with my mother this summer and I wasn't sure she'd go for it. Thank goodness she agreed to it. Everything was set. I picked the puppy she named Bandit because he had more black and he seemed the most adventurous of the bunch, which is exactly what I want.

Well that's enough background about Puppy. Which is what we'e been calling him until we think of a more appropriate name. It'll be 15 days tomorrow that Nick, and our two friends go get him. It's a long drive but it'll be so worth it!

Naming him has been hard. We are hovering over several names, including Oscar, Billy, Teddy, Gambit, Zippy, Summer, and so on. If you have ideas feel free to chip in.

Puppy from 11 days old with his brothers (he's the one on the left).  Now he's over 34 days old!
She keeps me very updated on his growing up. I get a picture or two every Saturday. He's 5, almost weeks now and huge. I can't believe how much he's grown just in the few weeks I've known him. He has a small umbilical hernia but she assures me there is nothing to worry about. They can fix it when they neuter him, according to what I've read.

Soooo follow me on this incredible new adventure, raising and training my very own puppy. :) I'm a little scared and little stressed, but I'm more excited! I have done so much research, I know that I can do this. Plus the stress could have something to do with my fast approaching finals.

I went on a few shopping trips and got everything I needed a week ago! The money is a little tight but I'm starting a job in a few weeks that will more than cover it. Thank goodness for my sister and dad for spotting me the money until then. I really couldn't do it without them.

I'm gonna making postings about the trip to get him too. I really want to document as many steps as I can. I don't want to forget anything about this.
